Wir freuen uns sehr, die Bildende Künstlerin Katerina Botsari als unseren dritte Stipendiatin im Gastatelier TOR 26 im Güterbahnhof empfangen zu können. Am 14.07.22 um 18.30 Uhr wird die Künstlerin anwesend sein und eine Präsentation ihrer Arbeit im TOR 26 geben. Katerina Botsaris Arbeit konzentriert sich auf Praktiken des Umherziehens, stellt Fragen der Materialität und des Gebrauchs und erforscht die Beziehung, die das Subjekt zum öffentlichen Raum entwickelt. In den handgefertigten Kompositionen der Künstlerin liegt der Schwerpunkt auf der Verwendung experimenteller und traditioneller Designtechniken, während sie in einem Umfeld sozialer Beschleunigung versucht, gebrochene Beziehungen zum vorherrschenden Modell der Zeitlichkeit zu entwickeln.
In ihrem Werk unterstreicht und kommentiert Botsari die anti-monumentale Natur des gegenwärtigen Zustands und lädt uns zu einer wandernden Lesart des Alltags ein. Die Dialektik der Materialien spricht zu uns in der Sprache einer Gemeinschaft, die sich in der strukturellen Schwebe befindet: Können "kleine" Subjekte in der Stunde des drohenden Einschlags zur Größe aufsteigen? Werden diese zweifelhaften Orte Zeichen eines neuen Nomadentums sein?
Katerina Botsari wurde 1980 in Patras geboren. Sie studierte Malerei an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Athen und absolvierte anschließend einen Masterstudiengang in Malerei an der Slade School of Fine Arts in London (UCL), wo sie bis 2012 lebte. Derzeit ist sie Doktorandin der Abteilung für visuelle Künste der ASFA. Sie hatte 4 Einzelausstellungen in London und Athen und hat an vielen Gruppenausstellungen weltweit teilgenommen. Sie ist ein Gründungsmitglied des experimentellen Raums Backspace in Athen. Im Jahr 2017 war sie Ko-Kuratorin der Ausstellung BOOBS-The Semiology of the Breast bei TAF/The Art Foundation in Athen. Sie war Artist-in-Residency bei Maison Maca (Athen 2016) und Florence Trust (London 2011-2012). 2006 vertrat sie Griechenland bei der 4. Internationalen Studententriennale in Istanbul, während sie 2003 und 2004 ein Ehrenstipendium der National Scholarship Foundation erhielt. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Athen mit ihrem Partner und zwei Kindern.

We are very happy to welcome the visual artist Katerina Botsari as our third scholarship holder in the guest studio TOR 26 at the Güterbahnhof. On 14.07.22 at 6.30 pm, the artist will be present and give a presentation of her work at TOR 26. Katerina Botsari’s work focuses on itinerant practices, posing questions of materiality and use while exploring the relationship that the subject develops with public space. In the artist's handmade compositions, emphasis is placed on the use of experimental and traditional design techniques while, in an environment of social acceleration, she attempts to develop breaking relationships with the dominant model of temporality.
In her work, Botsari highlights and comments on the anti-monumental nature of the current condition and invites us to a wandering reading of everyday life. The dialectic of materials comes to speak to us in the language of a community under structural suspension: Can “small” subjects rise to stature in the hour of looming impact? Will these dubious places be signs of a new nomadism? Katerina Botsari was born in Patras in 1980. She studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts and then did a master's degree in painting at the Slade School of Fine Arts in London (UCL) where she lived until 2012. Currently she is a PhD candidate of the Visual Arts Department of ASFA. She has held 4 solo exhibitions in London and Athens and has participated in many group exhibitions worldwide. She is a founding member of the experimental space Backspace in Athens. In 2017 she co-curated the exhibition BOOBS-The Semiology of the Breast at TAF/The Art Foundation in Athens. She was artist-in residency at Maison Maca (Athens 2016) and Florence Trust (London 2011-2012). In 2006 he represented Greece at the 4th Istanbul International Student Triennial, while in 2003 and 2004 she received an honorable Scholarship from the National Scholarship Foundation. She lives and works in Athens with her partner and two kids.
